An Intimate Tribute to P.K. Page

A PRIVATE FUNDRAISER FOR THE INSTITUTE FOR CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGE (ICE) An Intimate Tribute to P.K. Page will bring together ten poets, actors, dancers, singers and musicians to celebrate a selection of P.K. Page's theatrical, musical, and children's works. An exhibition and reception are included.

The performance includes excerpts from 'The Brazilian Journals' read by Marilyn Bowering with selected poems (readers: Terence Young, Cathy Fern Lewis, Petra Kixmöller). Lynda Raino dances. And Tim Gosley provides visuals. New York contemporary music composer David Loeb premieres pieces set to P.K. Page poems for soprano (Kiiri Michelsen) and guitar (Douglas Hensley). Cathy Fern Lewis creates special musical performances. Romany Miller reads an excerpt from 'Unless the Eye Catch Fire', a prophetic play foreshadowing global warming. Tim Gosley creates a shadow adaptation from P.K.'s puppet script, 'The Blind Men and The Elephant', base on a tale by Rumi. The illustrations of Kristi Bridgeman will be brought to life with a reading of 'There Once was a Camel' (Ekstasis Editions).

There is a Silent Auction for a framed P.K. Page painting with the starting bid at $500.00. Some additional items and books will also be for sale.

Also there will be an exhibition of art, puppets and other items including the work of P.K. Page, Wendy Page, Michael Peter Page, Pat Martin Bates and Kristi Bridgeman.

All proceeds will go to The Institute for Cross Cultural Exchange (ICE), which among other things distributes books to literacy groups free of charge for disadvantaged children at risk. P.K. Page was the impassioned honorary chair. www.iceeducation.org The artists have waived honorariums and friends of ICE are paying any administration costs.

An Intimate Tribute to P.K. Page is the first event at Merlin's Sun (formerly La Run), Victoria's private home/theatre recently purchased by Tim Gosley and Petra Kixmöller.
